Hello, and thank you for visiting this blog.
I am a 17 year old girl, living in Lancashire but born in Yorkshire, in the North of England.
North England is the birthplace of hundreds of brilliant, iconic bands. The Beatles, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths and HUNDREDS more. Unfortunately my complete and utter lack of musical ability means I will never join that list. In an attempt to make myself feel better about that fact, I did the obvious thing and started a generic music blog, which I will write with little skill, but pray you read it.
I think the point where music became my passion was when I found a mix tape (well, CD) someone had made my Dad. I put it on, and that was that. Three songs stuck with me: I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor//Arctic Monkeys, Smells Like Teen Spirit//Nirvana, and Snow//Red Hot Chili Peppers. Those three songs made me realise that I really wanted to hear more. By no means do I think that those songs are the best by those bands, but they introduced me to so much more. Smells Like Teen Spirit was the real key though, as it led me to the first time I ever ordered CDs instead of just waiting till my birthday and felt pure excitement until they came.
Suffice to say from that point I was hooked. Since then, my music taste has expanded massively in all directions.
I have always loved writing, and recently it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to combine my love of writing with my love of music, leading to the creation of this (shit) blog. This unprofessional, messy blog is just me trying to share what makes me happy with anyone who decides to read it (very few people). If you've got this far, please give my latest post a read - you might be pleasantly surprised! In theory, these are the type of posts you can expect:
» On the radar - reviews of smaller artists who I love and hope to see going places
» Gig reviews
» Hot off the press - reviews of new singles/EPs/albums from well established artists
» Lists and collections - posts about the old as well as the new (my record collection, favourite songs etc)
»Seasonal soundtracks - the songs I'm loving at the start of the season
And whatever else I think of
